Friday 13th Performance in Third Life Somerville

Maybe I'll wear a Jason mask for the occasion

But really I'll be showing an in-process duet with the lovely dancer Kristen Calder.  Even without the mask, the dance still deals with FEAR as a major theme.

The Third Life shared choreographer series curated by the Kelley Donovan is always diverse and interesting. A great way to see what's going on in the Boston scene, meet some folks, talk dance.  Here's the event page for the evening with a ful list of performers and other details:  https://www.facebook.com/events/425977964185901/

Morton Feldman's Three Voices with dancers

Friday January 17 7:30 PM Trident Gallery 189 Main St. Gloucester, MA Many years ago a composer friend of mine, Andrea Fontemaggi, gave me a copy of Morton Feldman's Three Voices for Joan La Barbara.  He said, "Make sure you have enough time to sit and listen to the whole thing.  Sit right in the middle of the speakers for the best sound." And I think he may have encouraged me not to move!  That may have been just how I felt when I listened to it.  I couldn't move.  I was transfixed by the movement of the sound. When Matt Swift (Trident Gallery) asked me to curate performance in agreement with his Winter exhibition, about creating a space for stillness and reflection, I immediately thought of this piece...  with dance. I'm breaking my history of stillness with the piece and joining in the movement of the sound, to create a quiet and powerful score that creates space for listening and reflecting as well as viewing. http://www.tridentgallery.com/
