This weekend, October 10, 11, and 12 I will be showing my dance/theater solo datafix at Short and Main (http://shortandmain.com/) in Gloucester, MA.  So get the best pizza ever, a delicious cocktail, and enjoy some work from both seasoned and new theater makers.  See the poster below....

Windhover Summer Dance Concert July 18 - 20

Sarah Slifer Swift & Dancers will be presenting two works, Insenser (2014, premiere) and Invisible Stories (2013) at the Windhover Summer Dance Concert July 18-20, 8pm.  They share the evening with Nahant choreographer Sallee Slagle and her Forty Steps Dance Company. Insenser , named after an NSA surveillance system, is a look at the human response to watching, being watched, and becoming data. Power, trust, control and vulnerability take the stage in a work that is at once alluring and disturbing. Invisible Stories , a collaboration between Swift and Vermont-based writer and choreographer Kate Tarlow Morgan, is a performance piece based on the idea that the book, open or closed, occupies the inner and outer landscapes in which we live. The book is a place, a body of matter and manifestation, and it is also endangered. As part of the Invisible Stories performance, an installation for one of the Windhover buildings will be on display at the start of each evening. www.win

Upcoming shows!

MAY 24th TRIDENT GALLERY 5PM Junichi Fukuda and Kristen Miller + Sarah Slifer Swift http://tridentgallery.com/ Junichi gets around as a dancer, most recently with Portland Ballet getting his classical on.  On the 24th he shows his contemporary choreography.  Cellist Kristen Miller has stunning technique and an original modern sound.   I am sneaking in for an improv with them because how could I stop myself? JUNE 14th  DANCE FOR WORLD COMMUNITY FESTIVAL Sarah Slifer Swift solo http://www.danceforworldcommunity.org/ In the year or so I have been doing research on surveillance, two different performance pieces came of it. One, Insensor , will premiere at Windhover in July (see next entry), but another piece emerged alongside it. This is what I will perform at DFWC.  It's interactive and chaotic and I'm looking forward to performing it at this diverse festival. Time of performance will be posted soon.
